Should I audition for the Royal Irish Academy of Music?

I am just starting to study for my Grade 8 Piano. I got a High Achiever Award from the RIAM last year for getting a Distinction in Grade 6. I haven't gotten my Grade 7 result but I think I did well - a high honor atleast. I have a good teacher but I would like to know whether it would benefit me if I was a student of the Royal Irish Academy of Music? What advantages would there be? I am seriously considering a career in music after school - I am 15 now and will be finished school in 2 years. Thanks for any helpful answer :)
