What is the difference between an over achiever and a person who just has high expectations for themselves?

I have a friend whom I think she's an over-achiever because she told me that she will never settle for anything less then a merit. When I told her she was an over-achiever she said she isn't one. She's just someone who has high expectations for herself. Could you explain to me the difference?
