Was Sheriff John Quincy Wydell from Devil's Rejects based on Lefty Enright from Texas Chainsaw part 2?

I know Rob Zombie is a huge Texas Chainsaw Massacre fan & i could not help but notice the similarities between the two movies, the main one being a crazed lawman chasing after a killer family who murdered one of his relatives, that's basically the plot for both films, so is Lefty the "inspiration" for Wydell?
